This catalog is a preliminary compilation of the published astrometric and photometric observations of stars on the Multichannel Astrometric Photometer, (MAP), observational program, (Gatewood,1987). This catalog gathers together the observational results for 267 stars published in 20 papers.
While the catalog is described in detail below, a few items deserve further discussion. The stars appear in order of increasing right ascension and are grouped under the heading of the target star of the MAP region in which they were observed. The errors for all of the astrometric parameters are recorded directly beneath the pertinent parameter. The system of the positions and motions is that of the PPM, but are for the epoch and equinox J2000.
The errors for much of the photometry also appear directly below the observations. For those photometric observations for which no error appears, the error in that observation is less than 0.03 magnitude. The photometry was obtained with the Kitt Peak #2 0.9m telescope and GaAs photometer.
The spectral types listed in the column labled AO are the spectral types used in adjusting the relative parallaxes directly observed by the MAP to absolute parallaxes. While most of these spectral types were determined from the photometry, there were a number of additional sources for these spectral classifications including published and objective prism spectra. Anyone making serious use of these spectral classifications should consult the appropriate reference for details as to their origin.
